Although
we are versatile performers of an unrivalled range of cover
material (i.e. other well-known artistes’ songs), that doesn’t
mean we’re just a bland imitation of everything we do. We take
time and care over all
our arrangements, no matter what musical style, so that the end
product is authentic, convincing and robust. That's how we
transcend the dreaded "Cheese
Factor" that afflicts so many acts in the
wedding market - 21 Red have a full-on pro-standard approach
which surprises most wedding parties ...
We
have a clear, defined, melodic
overall sound which is strong on
vocals (Kenny is widely recognised
as one of the finest lead
vocalists on the Scottish weddings
and functions scene) and is musically dynamic but always controlled.
We
review and update our musical
material more or less constantly,
and rehearse frequently, to take
account of contemporary and chart
material, while still retaining
classic favourites.
The
songs and material below represent
the main body of of the repertoire
the band carries, although there
are more themes to call on if
required. Those listed have been
selected mainly to demonstrate the
breadth
of material we cover, and reflect
the "something
for everyone"
approach that's so vitally
important for a successful
Scottish wedding. All our songs
are chosen for wide appeal across
age groups and tastes, lasting
popularity, danceability and
"feelgood" qualities.
It's
worth repeating that we're proud
to be a versatile ALL
LIVE act - everything you hear
on the night is played and sung by
the band - we don't rely, as many
now do, on pre-recorded backing
tracks or computer-generated
backing.

WEDDING
FIRST DANCES -
the traditional first
dance (hardly ever a
waltz!) is now largely
functional rather than
symbolic. It serves as a
photo-opportunity for
guests to capture the
newly-weds (followed by
the rest of the formal
wedding party) on camera
or video, and then allows
the rest of the guests - importantly
- to get accustomed to the
dance floor. As such,
slow, well-known songs
with romantic themes tend
to fit the bill.
